Moving again…
After much thought and prayer, I have decided to move my blog back to a free domain. You can find it here at www.jbunch.wordpress.com. I am actually writing more faithfully again (leading a group through 100 days of reading the Bible) so I hope that you will still join me on this journey called blindly pursuing life.
I did this for 3 reasons:
1) I do not wish to pay for something I am not using to the best of my abilities.
2) I am reworking some things in my life and want to put my resources (finances) towards those.
3) I feel that I have to earn the right to pay for my writing since I have honestly slacked off since paying for a domain.
Please join me at www.jbunch.wordpress.com as I continue writing. I am more faithfully pursuing this now.

Set lists 1.1.12 & 1.8.12
The past few weeks I have not put up the set lists. I apologize because I get asked all the time for what we sing at 24/7. It is a huge calling on my life to be a worship pastor and I truly love what I do, but many times I don’t look back on what I’ve been doing and have something to compare it to. I believe that we should all be striving to do more and more in our respective callings. God didn’t call us to sit by casually and let things just happen. He wants us to be actively pursuing creativity and honestly, I feel that I have a long way to go. I can get stuck in a routine of trying to do certain things a certain way. And I want to break free from that.
One area for me is this area of set lists. I don’t want to just keep doing songs the same way and choosing them because they are familiar or something of that nature. I want to get to a place where 24/7 is a catalyst for worship in this city. There are many churches who worship well and I believe that we are one of them but we have a long way to go. And I don’t want to get in God’s way. But here are some songs that we did the past couple weeks to express the heart that God is shaping in us. Let us know in the comments what songs your church is doing. I truly believe that God is calling His church to be the most creative place on earth and I know that I am not even close to expressing that with my life. So let us pray for hard work to come forth from our spirits in order to worship Him most fully and to show His love to a world searching for truth.

2012
Always at the beginning of a year, I do some re-evaluating of my life and it is hard to look back. It is also hard for me to look forward. Do you feel any of that in your life?
I’m not sure why I can’t just embrace each day as the abundant potential contained therein. I just live a life of ease and then regret after many wandering times. But this year, I wish to take it on fully. Being fully present in each moment and holding onto the life that God has called me to live. One that is not meant to be viewed day-to-day but is to be embraced by each experience.
I am excited about 2012 (even though it might be the world’s last). Are you?

I read this quote on Ben Arment‘s blog yesterday and it stuck out to me. I want to be a success in whatever I do. This is probably the key to why I am not successful as I should be.

And you may be better looking than me. But if we get on a treadmill together, one of two things is going to happen: you are going to get off first or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple. I’m not going to be outworked.”

Set List 11.6.11
This week our church did a few things differently. We set up the chairs differently. Had acoustic worship with just myself and a guitar and a djembe player. We turned out all the lights and had a simple lamp.
And it was phenomenal. God truly moved.
Here was the set list:
He is Exalted/Indescribable – Shane & Shane version/Laura Story
Divine Romance – Phil Wickham
Refuse to be denied – Desperation Band
It is well – Philip Glass hymn
—
Be thou my vision – hymn
It was a great time of switching things up and focusing more on the intimacy that should be had in worship. I have found that an acoustic time of worship is very much needed in churches. Too many times we feel that we need a full band with drums, an electric, and more in order to enter into worship. But God is calling us to worship Him with our lives and not our preferences.
What songs did you do at your church this week? And what has God been teaching you about worship?

God has truly been realigning me in areas of ministry and I’m truly excited about what God is doing.
This week we had a smaller group leading but it was a great service.
Beautiful the Blood – Fee (Tommy led)
Nothing but the Blood – Matt Redman (Jason)
You are on our side – Elevation worship (Joanna)
Abba – Jonathan David Helser (Tommy)
—
From the inside out – Hillsong United (Jason)
It has been great leading with our team because they are all worshipping themselves and leading others into His presence faithfully.
What songs did you sing at your church?

Transition is hard. I believe it could be the toughest thing we will likely go through. I am going to be in the middle of one shortly but I am excited about God realigning my work with my calling. So I wanted to write about what transitions can bring about:
1) Transitions lead us to trust God.
2) Transitions realign what we do with who we are.
3) Transitions lead to brokenness.
There are many more things I could say but these stick out to me right now.

Can you believe that it is already October? It is a time of cooler weather, fairs (which Vickie and I attended yesterday and some delicious but ultimately terrible Fried Snicker’s bars and a jumbo turkey leg), and truly the best holiday that doesn’t celebrate Jesus and his birth or resurrection (Halloween).
Yesterday at 24/7 Church, we continued our vision series and we focused on the subject of giving.
Here was our set list:
We are the free – Matt Redman
Glory to God forever – Fee
The greatness of our God – Hillsong
Holy, holy, holy – traditional hymn
—
Narrow Road – Hillsong
the precipice of a revolution
There are so many things to discuss on this here blog and I can only begin to tell you how excited I am for those things to take place. God is about to do some amazing things in the lives of the people of 24/7 Church. We are on the precipice of a revolution and revival.
I am not sure why I see this so clearly right now but God is aligning the stars for something big and let me just say that He is starting with me. He is starting in me and its going to work through me. But I want you to realize that its not just through me, or else I would boast in myself.
He’s about to do something through our pastor, through our small groups, prayer group, bible studies, and through so many more people who are beginning to be involved in the life of our church.
I’ve realized that God always does something in us before He does something through us and I am very excited to see this happen.
We, as a leadership team, are working through what it means to disciple. Because without discipleship, we simply have people who make a one-time decision and have nowhere to go. This should not be the case and I pray that we won’t commit the Great Omission (as Dallas Willard so eloquently wrote about in his book of that name). In a new role that I feel God is calling me to, I am working through what it means to truly disciple in 21st century Greensboro, NC.
What does a true Christian look like? What kind of knowledge do they have? How would one pray like that? How would one serve like that? How would one spread the gospel and evangelize in our town?
In essence, this is simply a new way of phrasing what would Jesus do in this place and in this time.
I chose the word precipice because I love the definition of it (“A very steep rock face or cliff, typically a tall one”). We have a cliff before us and I simply want to ask you, are you willing to take that leap?
Are you willing to jump off the mountain that you have built for yourself and enter the freedom that can only come from jumping?
Let’s take a leap and see what God does.

This is really late but here were the songs that we did the past couple of weeks. It has been great because God has added a female vocalist to our team and she has been doing fantastic. More than anything, her heart and commitment has truly inspired the others to join in with what God is calling us to. So let’s thank Joanna for helping out in her area of passion and calling. It is also great to have a woman to our all-man team. She is the wife of our drummer, Trevor, and has truly brought a lot to our team.
